Otters Retreat is a self catering holiday cottage set in the grounds of a picturesque sheep farm in the Peak District village of Wincle, a quiet and individual place to stay.
This Visit England 5-star rated cottage combines space, comfort and a high standard of finish throughout, creating a relaxing and well-equipped base for couples, families and friends.
Surrounded by open countryside, there are walks directly from the doorstep across fields, woodland and along the River Dane. The local pub, The Ship, is a five minute walk across the field, and Wincle Brewery is close by.

Living spaces. A cosy lounge with an inglenook fireplace and log burner opens onto a dining area seating up to eight guests.
Kitchen. A modern, fully equipped kitchen with built in appliances and underfloor heating runs open plan from the dining table.
Bedrooms and bathrooms. Two beautifully appointed bedrooms sleep four in comfort, each with a king size bed and its own en suite wet room.
Everything You Need
The Kitchen
A built in oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, with a coffee machine, toaster, mixer and kettle provided. The adjoining utility room houses a washing machine, a WC and a wash hand basin, and a radio keeps you company while you cook.
The Bedrooms
Bedroom one is bright and contemporary, with a king size bed, wardrobe, dressing table and reading lights, and windows that frame the countryside. Bedroom two is its equal, light filled and quiet, and both rooms have their own en suite wet room.
The Bathrooms
Two en suite wet rooms, meticulously fitted to the highest specification. The first is finished in warm stone tiling with an open plan walk in shower, the second in sleek modern grey with an enclosed shower.
Outdoors
A patio with seating and a brick built barbecue for dining outside on long summer evenings, with the fields opening out beyond the gate. Thirty eight acres of fields, woodland and riverbank complete the picture.
Home Comforts
An inglenook fireplace with a log burner, flat screen televisions in both the lounge and the dining area, a restored butcher’s block stocked with games and local information, and free WiFi throughout.
Space to Unwind by the Fire
The lounge is built around an impressive inglenook fireplace with a log burner, perfect for cooler evenings after a day on the hills. Easy chairs seat four or five in comfort, with a coffee table, occasional tables and a flat screen TV. Beyond the beams, the countryside fills every window.
Open Plan and Fully Equipped
The modern kitchen is a cook’s delight, with a built in oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, plus a coffee machine, toaster, mixer and kettle. It opens straight onto the dining area, so nobody is left out, and a utility room with a washing machine and WC keeps longer stays easy.
